As we get to know each other, one thing will be absolutely clear. I LOVE the ocean. I was born near Galveston, TX so I frequented the ocean. When I was in the Navy, I was stationed in Hawaii. And...oh, by the way...I was in the US Navy. I LOVE the ocean.
Many people are scared of the ocean, but I find it healing. Sure, there are sharks and jellyfish, and many other creatures that could potentially cause a lot of harm to humans. But isn't that life? At the writing of this blog, the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) has all of us in a tizzy. We are shutting down schools, sporting events, churches--everything. Whether we admit it or not, we know that this virus has the potential to cause a lot of harm. To some degree, we are scared of this virus, and there's nothing we can do as we just going through the motions of everyday life. Therefore, living our everyday lives could be just as scary as the ocean. The thing we all have to remember is that wherever we are or whatever we do, we need to find ways to rest and heal.
This is why I love the ocean so much. It is my restful, healing place. Practically, the minerals in the salt water have many healing properties (Epsom Salt Bath and saline rinse, anyone??). Spiritually, there is a calm about the ocean. But there is also a rage. Because of this, the ocean commands respect. The ocean commands my attention. The ocean prompts me to think some of my most salient thoughts...
